POSTER PRESENTATIONS

The European Week of Active & Healthy Ageing aims to be the European networking and exchange platform for providing innovation support and inter-disciplinary cooperation for active and healthy ageing. It brings together collaboration partners from around Europe (from industry and academia to care providers and the older people themselves), who are engaged in promoting and supporting healthy ageing to innovate new service models, such as in health and care, lifelong learning, and employment.

It will be a third edition of The European Week of Active & Healthy Ageing and will take place 18 -20 October 2022 in Gdansk, Poland. The event will build on 10 years of legacy of the AAL Association’s AAL Forum, sharing knowledge and showcasing innovation at all levels in the active and healthy ageing sector.

Presenting at this event is a brilliant way of informing other delegates and stakeholders about how you are helping to change the way older people use technology to stay healthy and independent for longer. It is an excellent way to make your mark at the forum whilst fully immersing yourself in the rest of the event’s workshops, plenary sessions and networking opportunities.

THEMATIC AREAS

Five thematic areas were identified by the EWAHA Programme Committee as the pillars of the 2022 edition. All proposals must fall in one of these thematic areas.

THEME 1: The impact of the AAL Programme

The AAL programme has been working since 2008 to improve the quality of life of elders through the digitalisation of services and products. Such work of innovation supports impacted various regions in Europe, in various ways. From our perspective, we have done our homework and an impact study has been finding the qualitative and quantitative effect of AAL in the last 14 years. We also want to hear your voice and perspective to present, share and disseminate the learning curve of all the actors of the AAL universe! We are keen to welcome posters that can present how the evolution of active and healthy ageing was in the last decade, by taking into consideration the input and contribution of the AAL Programme. The posters could include topics such as:

From an AAL funded project perspective:

  • How did the pre-procurement approach change in the last decade?
  • How did AAL impact on the identifications of the needs of people?
  • How beneficial was the role of AAL as a platform for innovation?

From a National AAL member perspective:

  • Did AAL contributed to produce or change newer national agendas for ageing?
  • Impact on national policies according to initial goals (did it help the shift from hospital/care homes to home? And selfcare? Did it help to improve the quality of life of seniors and support sustainability of the healthcare system?)

THEME 2: The European Ageing well agenda in the 2020s

This theme aims to present how the main European Initiatives are implementing action streams related with active and healthy aeging, and how they are aligning their strategies to leverage Europe’s competitiveness in that domain.  The posters could include topics such as:

  • Green Paper on Ageing & the European Strategy for Care.
  • National & Regional ageing strategies.
  • The Heath & Care Systems Transformation Partnership.
  • Different perspectives from businesses, public administrations, hospitals, care centres, etc. for continued European support.
  • What were the challenges and how were they overcome?

THEME 3: How to prepare for an ageing society?

This theme aims to investigate how European society is preparing for ageing at all levels. We are eager to learn from any type of initiative at economic and social level that are presenting innovative approaches. The posters could include topics such as:

  • Life course approach to education, labour, social connection, health, and care.
  • How to involve young elders in the care and involvement in society of older adults?
  • How can civil society be part of the solution?
  • Well-being and society: understanding on the relation between technology such as AI and Robotics and people.
  • What were the challenges and how were they overcome? (at all levels)
  • From hospitalization to home care: how the hospitals (and homes) of the future can help shape a better ageing society.
  • The tech revolution in all domains: from fintech to tourism tech. How is the digital technology disrupting the way we will age? (Lifelong learning; mobility; finance; social care).

THEME 4: Enhancing Impact of AAL Projects

This theme aims to learn from previous experience of successful cases, answering the question “If our project started today, what we would do different?”. Will also address relevant inherent indicators to increase the impact of AAL Solutions, considering the experience and AAL projects good practices and methodologies. The posters could include topics such as:

  • Improving technical and exploitation approaches to meet user expectations in AAL (How define better pilots for AAL projects.
  • What were the challenges and how were they overcome?
  • Evaluation methodologies and indicators.
  • How to define the number of users to involve in the pilot.
  • Relevant outputs to prove the value of the new solution comparing with the current approaches.
  • Requirements for data protection in different countries and markets.
  • Good practices, experiences, and methodologies.
  • How to we create a prosperous eco system in which (AAL) innovations can flourish and deliver maximum impact.
  • Other questions: Is technology working for the older adults? How do we implement this existing technology into the fabric of an older society? What are the business models that works best for implementing technology today? To what extent and how is technology implemented in society and accepted by users? How is digital divide impacting the exclusion of older adults from social care?
